IHK Berlin

Berlin 2019

IHK Berlin is based in the Ludwig Erhard Haus – an architectural landmark designed by the renowned Nicholas Grimshaw. The HR department is located on the 5th floor, where all job interviews are held. What was once an unused corridor has been transformed into a welcoming communication space for applicants and employees alike.

Design solution

A custom-designed pergola with a two-level seating landscape welcomes applicants. It’s designed to create a relaxed atmosphere and leave a warm, positive first impression.

"In redesigning our spaces, the UP GREAT team guided us through a participatory, agile coaching process, resulting in a true joint creation."

— Philipp Jahnke, IHK Berlin

Between the diagonal walls in the corridor, small lounge and meeting areas have taken shape. They invite employees to spontaneous encounters, quick check-ins, creative sessions, or simply a relaxed break — creating the ideal setting for innovative, agile ways of working.

The corridor now serves as a lively communication zone, fostering interaction and connection among colleagues from all departments.
